The city of Da Nang in Vietnam has adopted a range of Microsoft cloud technology in order to improve its IT infrastructure.
The city’s officials are aiming to maximise Da Nang’s economic and social growth, and wanted to integrate the services of more than 20 government agencies under one IT umbrella
Thanks to Microsoft’s cloud-based solution, citizens in the city can now access government services more easily and efficiently.
Previously, the city’s data centre was based on a traditional, physical model, with very few integrated services. The city sought a unified platform that would offer a one-stop shop approach.
Da Nang officials deployed a cloud data centre solution with Windows Server 2012 R2 and Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 included in the core platform.
Microsoft CityNext solutions have recently been introduced to the city’s authorities and are set to help bring about further advantages through flexible cloud services, applications and high-end equipment for staff.
With our data centre deployed on the Microsoft cloud platform, we are able to seamlessly integrate with open source software,” said Nguyen Quang Thanh, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications. “The system has become more diverse, being able to provide for a wider range of customers with different needs.”
Staff can now offer more targeted services to citizens with fewer interruptions, and the costs saved from improved performance are greater than the cost of the entire implementation.
“Flexibility and speedy information processing now enables city leaders to respond quickly to opportunities and challenges, bringing a better life for its citizens,” added Vu Minh Tri, general director of Microsoft Vietnam. “This takes Da Nang one step closer to becoming a modern, intelligent city.”
